What is a Suspended Ceiling System?
The most common type of system used in an office environment is the suspended ceiling system. Also known as a drop ceiling or a false ceiling, a suspended ceiling is a second ceiling that is built below the structural ceiling of the building. It is made up of a metal grid framework that is suspended from the main ceiling with wire. The frames are then filled with ceiling tiles or panels.
They are chosen for various reasons such as:
- Acoustics: The space between the original ceiling and the new suspended ceiling can be used to house sound-absorbing materials to create a quieter working environment.
