Brief
Educate.ie is an Irish educational publishing company that produces classroom resources, textbooks and digital supports for teachers, students and parents. Their focus is on creating high-quality, affordable educational materials for today’s classrooms. As the business continued to grow, Educate.ie relocated from Ballymount to a larger premises in Dundrum to create a workspace that could better support its expanding team and evolving operational needs.
Design
The new workspace was designed to balance functionality, collaboration and comfort across both floors. Existing open kitchenettes were enclosed with glass partitioning and the carpet flooring was replaced with vinyl to form practical canteen spaces on each floor. On the ground floor, a new 20-person boardroom was created using double-glazed partitioning, while an existing storage room was opened up with double glazing and repurposed as an office. A further office was also introduced beside the boardroom, with both private offices fitted out with sit-stand desks. Across the open-plan areas, the layout centred on 1400mm bench pods, with a dedicated pod of 1200mm hot desks and hanging Koala screens to support flexible working.
What we delivered
On the first floor, all existing partitioning was removed to fully reconfigure the space and create three new managers’ offices, including one that leads into an 8-person team office, along with a new meeting room.
Another meeting room was also introduced within the first-floor open-plan area, which was finished with 1400mm bench desking, hanging Koala screens and integrated storage. Frosted vinyl was applied to the new glazing, with an additional band added to the external ground-floor windows for privacy and visual consistency.
The project also included painting and new carpet throughout, new blinds, acoustic baffling, new fire doors to the entrances of both the ground and first-floor open-plan offices, and a full package of electrical upgrades including relocated floor boxes, additional sockets and LED lighting upgrades where required.
Outcome
The completed fit-out delivered a modern, efficient and scalable workplace tailored to Educate.ie’s next phase of growth. By transforming underused areas into productive offices, introducing high-quality meeting and boardroom facilities, and improving the overall open-plan layout, the new Dundrum premises now supports a more agile and collaborative way of working.
Upgraded finishes, lighting, acoustics and privacy features have also helped create a brighter, more comfortable environment for staff, while ensuring the space reflects the professionalism and ambition of a growing organisation.
